Prof. Dr. Orhan ŞEN was born on June 18, 1969, in Adana. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Adana. He graduated from C.U. Faculty of Medicine in 1992. Having served as a medical doctor in various places, Orhan ŞEN started his residency in the Neurosurgery clinic of S.B. Ankara Hospital in 1995 and completed his specialization at the Department of Neurosurgery, C.U. Faculty of Medicine in 2000. While working at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine Adana Hospital, he received the title of Associate Professor of Medicine in the field of neurosurgery (Brain, Nerve, and Spinal Cord Surgery) in 2007. In April 2013, he was appointed as a Professor Doctor to the Department of Medical Engineering at Karabük University.
Along with performing interventions involving microscopic surgery in Cranial and Spinal cases, he has 44 international and 19 national scientific articles, and 17 international and 58 national congress presentations covering topics such as apoptosis (programmed cell death), failed back surgery syndrome, and epidural fibrosis in his experimental and clinical studies. He serves as a referee in international journals.
He was awarded the EFIAP (International Artist of Photography) title by the International Federation of Photographic Art because he met the appropriate criteria due to his works. He holds international gold and bronze medals in the field of photography, and his photos have been exhibited in different countries. He held his first solo exhibition in Adana with a photography exhibition titled ‘Despite Everything’ aimed at the physically disabled. In his exhibition, he expressed that the real obstacle lies in thoughts and love.
Prof. Dr. Orhan ŞEN, who is a member of the Adana Medical Chamber, Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Turkish Neurosurgical Academy, and EANS (European Association of Neurosurgical Societies), and Adana Amateur Photographers Association (AFAD), is also an International Photographic Artist with the EFIAP title. He is married and has one daughter.
